Installing Z-WaveMe UZB Z-Wave USB Stick on Windows 7: Access denied

I recently purchased a Z-WaveMe Z-Wave USB stick (ZME_UZB1). When trying to install the driver for Windows, I was confronted with an error message that the installation failed. The only hint given pointing to the cause was “Access denied”. Not really useful.

After trying out a lot of different “solutions” from different websites, and when I was about to give up, I finally found the solution:

The two driver files, uzb.inf and uzb.cat were highlighted in green color after extracting them from the downloaded archive, which means their contents were encrypted to secure data. After going to the files properties, tab “General”, button “Advanced”, and removing the selection of “Encrypt contents to secure data“, the installation worked fine!

Should have wondered earlier what the green coloring actually means…
